Cans and Bottles Recycling Centre

The centre is located at the Streaky Bay Waste Transfer and Resource Recovery Centre at 28964 Flinders Highway

Please take your bottles and cans for recycling to obtain your 10 cent collection refund.

Opening Times

Monday - CLOSED
Tuesday - 9:00am-12:30pm and 1:30pm-4:30pm
Wednesday - 9:00am-1:00pm
Thursday - CLOSED
Friday - 9:00am-12.30pm and 1:30pm-4:30pm
Saturday - 8:00am-1:00pm
Sunday - CLOSED
Please note:  Also closed on ALL Public Holidays, Catastrophic declared fire ban days (as issued by the CFS) and as adverse  weather conditions dictate to maintain the safety of staff and customers

When presenting your items for the 10c refund, please ensure you have done the following -

  • Removed all bottle tops, lids and straws
  • Separated items into plastics, cans and glass
  • Emptied liquid from containers
  • Rinsed flavoured milk containers
  • Removed all rubbish

Please Note: If staff deem that a customer has not made a reasonable attempt to adhere to the above, the items will NOT be accepted until appropriately presented.

If you have a large quantity of sorted items, these can be left for staff to process at a later time and your refund can be collected when ready.

We want to ensure an efficient process for your refunds.  Your co-operation, patience and courtesy towards staff is appreciated.

Did you know?

You can also take your glass bottles and jars (lids removed), wine and spirit bottles for recycling. Please note that these do not attract a 10 cent refund.

Plastic milk bottles (rinsed and lids removed) and tin cans (rinsed) are now accepted at the Transfer Station for recycling.

Other Recycling

Presently Council undertakes a limited amount of recycling/resource recovery. Items currently recycled/recovered from landfill are limited to - Cardboard, tyres, steel, green waste, timber, E-waste.  (Fees are applicable).
