Streaky Bay Youth Precinct (Skate Park Development)

In 2018 Council received funding through the Eyre Peninsula Natural Resource Management Board for funding to design a Nature Play concept. Initially this concept was to introduce a Nature Play concept along the Eyre Avenue Precinct. With further community consultation and following a presentation from the Streaky Bay Area School Students to Council in 2019 it was agreed to expend the design concept to develop the existing Skate Park precinct into an inclusive recreational play space that seeks to provide opportunities for a wider group of people.

Quality Park and recreation spaces provide inexpensive, passive recreation opportunities for all persons within the community and at any day of the week. The precinct development will value add to our liveability, particularly as we see evidence of population growth in the coming years.

Nature Play Space Project Details

The Nature Play Space was the brainchild of the local Streaky Bay “ArtsUp” Committee, with their ideas and concepts incorporated into overall concept designs.

The group received substantial funding through Country Arts SA, and many of the artists completed their work through a mentorship program under this funding, with Council supporting the installation component.

Each piece of artwork has its own story and individual artist.

Council will be installing interpretive signage to provide visitors to the park an immersive experience into the nature play space and pieces provided.
