Streaky Bay Entrance Signage

HISTORY

“Council previously had design concepts undertaken approximately six (6) years ago in which at the time did not receive the funding to implement, as the current funding is provided under a new Council and was some time ago, it was prudent that we undertook the design development from the beginning again, those previous design concepts have been considered in this project” Penny Williams – General, Manager Prosperity

Council is seeking to have the project completed by the end of June 2023.

DESIGN RATIONALE

The designs presented here, on the whole, mark a fresh approach to those previously submitted six years ago. In the process of developing these designs, the previous work was considered and adapted where it was felt applicable. While some elements have been carried through, the concepts presented are aligned with Council’s objective to breathe new life into this ongoing project.

THEMES

Central to the design intent was to create an abstract reference (as opposed to literal) to the environmental surrounds, using natural elements as the source of these colours and graphics. Common themes throughout the designs are the wave like lines indicative of the ocean and it’s myriad patterns. Other graphics make use of oceanic themes and colours have been selected that represent the environment.

YOUR SAY

Council undertook an extensive consultation process over a three-week period including, survey’s, social media, website, news print, online media, street drop by sessions and school drop in sessions.

The feedback received was that over 40% of the community preferred the final endorsed sign as their first preference. Based on some of the feedback provided during the consultation process, the designer did make a couple of small changes and that was the inclusion of the jetty silhouette and a more natural stone base.
