Draft 2020/2021 Annual Business Plan – Have Your Say

The District Council of Streaky Bay has released for Public Consultation its Draft 2020/2021 Annual Business Plan.

The Annual Business Plan sets out Council’s long and short term objectives, budgetary impacts, range of services and key projects for the 2020/2021 financial year;

  • ICT & Equipment Software Upgrades
  • Poochera, Wirrulla & Piednippie Courts Resurfacing (Grant Funded)
  • Poochera Oval Change Room Facility (Grant Funded)
  • Streaky Bay Boat Ramp (Grant Funded)
  • Streaky Bay Hall (Grant Funded) and Main Council Office Air-conditioning
  • Community Event Equipment (Grant Funded)
  • Tourism Signage Upgrade (Grant Funded)
  • Tractor Beach Campground Development
  • Streaky Bay Foreshore Tourist Park Development

Council has considered the implications of the recent COVID-19 pandemic and opted for a 0% rate or levy increase. This includes any properties that received an increase in valuation (growth) being adjusted to ensure a rate increase was not felt. Council recently undertook a revaluation of its assets and a significant increase in depreciation has negatively impacted much of the operating budget, Council has committed to reviewing its current assets in the coming 12 months.

Mayor Travis Barber said “This is one of the tightest budgets I have been part of, and credit must go to the Senior Management Team for delivering a budget like this in these unprecedented times. The Senior Management Team undertook a great amount of work to review their service levels in preparation for this budget with cost savings identified in a range of areas. Council is fortunate to have received funding through the Drought Communities Program and Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program that will enable us to deliver some good community infrastructure with the Boat Ramp being a key priority”

The Draft Annual Business Plan will be available at the Council’s office and Visitor Centre from Thursday 9 July 2020. Copies are also available to download here.

Time will be set aside at Council’s Special Meeting (from 10.00am – 11.00am) on Thursday 30 July 2020 to receive community representations in writing or verbal feedback on the proposals for the 2020-2021 financial year. The meeting will be held at the Visitor Centre, 21 Bay Road, Streaky Bay.

Community feedback is important and Council will be pleased to receive written submissions up to 5.00pm on Wednesday, 29 July 2020. Written submissions should be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, PO Box 179, Streaky Bay SA 5680.
