Streaky Bay National Trust Museum

The Streaky Bay National Trust Museum is situated in the 1901 school building and is open on Tuesdays & Fridays from 2:00 - 4:00pm or by appointment. The museum has three rooms, which showcases many displays including...

  • Church altar from St Canutes Catholic Church.
  • Assorted collection of bird's eggs, shells, flora & vertebras.
  • The Daisy Bates Story. This is a well presented with collection of items belonging to Daisy & other native artefacts.
  • Furniture, clothing, school, sporting history, antiques and nostalgic items from Returned Service League and Masonic Lodge.
  • Many items and photos connected with early sailing and shipping history and the pioneer families of the early settlement of the district.
  • Cameras, sewing machines, radios, bottles and the recently completed shark and game fishing display and much more...

In the Sheds

The display in the sheds includes many artefacts used in this area including...

  • Early agriculture machinery.
  • Blacksmith tools.
  • Recently renovated Straight Eight Nash Car used by Mrs Sylvia Birdseye for passenger run from Adelaide to Streaky Bay.
  • Equipment and Printing Machinery from 1912 used at the Sentinel Office before the relocation to Ceduna in 1974.
  • Horse float used by Mary Murphy during her show years.

On the Grounds

Two specialist buildings on the grounds include the old Doctor Surgery and Instruments used from 1920-1983 including the 'Iron Lung' and a large collection of dental & surgical memorabilia. 'Pug & Pine Cottage' showcases many items including furniture and clothing used by the early Kelsh families dating from 1886.

Pictured to the right is the 'Pug & Pine Cottage also known as Kelsh Cottage. This cottage was dismantled from the original site and re-erected at the Streaky Bay Museum by volunteers.
